Privacy and cookies

This page explains what information the site collects, why, and what you can do about it.

Who we are

PosterTemplate is a website run from the UK, who is responsible for your information under UK data protection law. You can reach us through the contact page.

Cookies and your choice

When you first visit, a consent message from Google asks whether you agree to cookies for advertising and analytics. Those cookies are only set if you agree. The message itself stores your choice so it does not ask again on every page.

If you say no, the site still works and the downloads are still free. Google may still show adverts, but they are not based on your browsing, and Google may use limited data to count adverts and prevent fraud.

You can change your choice at any time with the "Privacy and cookie settings" link that Google's message adds to the page, or by clearing this site's cookies in your browser.

Adverts

We are setting up adverts from Google AdSense, and Google's code already runs on the site to show the consent message. With your consent, Google and its partners use cookies to choose adverts that may interest you and to measure them. Google explains how it uses this information in How Google uses information from sites that use its services (opens in a new tab), and you can manage personalised adverts in My Ad Center (opens in a new tab).

Analytics

With your consent, we use Google Analytics (loaded through Google Tag Manager) to count visits and see which pages and downloads are used, so we know what to improve. It records things like the pages you view, the files you download, your approximate location (country or city) and the type of device and browser. Google Analytics does not store your IP address. Detailed records are kept for 2 months, and data linked to a returning visitor for up to 14 months.

Server logs

Like most websites, our server records each request: your IP address, the page or file requested, the time, and your browser's description of itself. We use these logs to keep the site secure and working, and delete them after 90 days.

Contact form

If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you type, together with the IP address it was sent from. We use them only to reply to you and to stop abuse of the form. The form keeps a short-lived counter of messages per IP address (stored as a one-way hash) to limit how often messages can be sent. We delete messages once they are dealt with, and within 12 months.

Affiliate links

Some pages link to products on Amazon UK. If you follow one, Amazon knows you came from this site, and Amazon's own privacy notice applies on its site. We do not send Amazon any personal information about you. See the affiliate disclosure.

Other websites

Some pages list free downloads from other websites. The preview pictures are stored on our server, so nothing is loaded from those websites until you click a link. Their own privacy notices apply once you are there. Our fonts are stored on our server too.

Our reasons for using your information

  • Consent - advertising and analytics cookies.
  • Legitimate interests - server logs, keeping the site secure, and replying to messages you send us.

Google may process information outside the UK. Google is responsible for the safeguards it uses for those transfers.

Your rights

You can ask what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, or to stop using it. Use the contact page. You can withdraw consent to cookies at any time (see above). If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk (opens in a new tab).
