Habit tracker templates

A habit tracker turns a good intention into something you can see.

How to use it

  1. Choose a few habits, four to eight is plenty, and write each as a small action, such as "Walk for 20 minutes".
  2. Write the month or week at the top of the page.
  3. Each day, colour in the square for every habit you did.
  4. At the end of the week or month, count the squares and see which habits stuck.
  5. Keep the habits that work, change the ones that do not, and start a fresh page.

About this household template

Colour a square each day you do the habit, and a growing run of colour is its own motivation. This free printable pack has two versions: a monthly tracker with a column for every day from 1 to 31 and room for ten habits, and a weekly tracker with bigger squares and a notes box for what helped. Both come as Word files you can type your habits into and as PDFs to print. No app and no account: a page on the fridge or in your planner.

Questions

How many habits should I track?

Fewer than you think. Four to eight is plenty, and starting with two or three is fine if you want to build up gradually.

Should I use the monthly or weekly tracker?

Use the monthly one if you like seeing patterns over time. Use the weekly one if you want bigger squares, a quick check-in each Sunday, or a gentler start.

What if I miss a day?

Leave the square empty and carry on the next day. The point is to see the overall pattern, not to have a perfect record.

Can I type my habits in?

Yes. Open the Word version, type into the Habit column and print it, or print the PDF and handwrite.
