- Lay everything out before it goes in the bag, then tick each item as you pack it.
- For a family trip, use the write-your-own version and note which bag each item is in.
- Run through the "Documents and money" section again before you leave.
About this household template
This free packing list gives you a ready-made checklist for weekends away and holidays, sorted into documents and money, clothes, toiletries and health, tech and extras, with spare boxes for your own items. The second version is a blank write-your-own table with columns for the item, who or which bag it belongs to, how many and a packed tick, which works well for family trips. Both download as Word, so you can type into them, and as PDF for printing.
Questions
What should I put on a packing list?
Start with documents and money, then clothes, toiletries and any medication, then tech and chargers. Add anything particular to your trip, such as walking boots or a swimming costume.
Can I edit the packing list?
Yes. Open the Word version and type straight into the boxes, or print the PDF and write by hand.
Which version is best for a family holiday?
The write-your-own version, as you can list each person's items and note which bag they are in. Use the ready-made list as a prompt for ideas.
Where do I check baggage limits?
On your airline, train or ferry operator's website. Limits vary, so check them before you pack.
